Emily & her art
I have been very fortunate to be able to travel extensively in Europe, the Far East and our own beautiful United States. That travel has infused an appreciation in me for the intensity and variety in our world’s sounds, textures and colors. This dramatic diversity kindled my interest in capturing the vision and emotion of these moments in watercolor as “Expressions of Life”. My art attempts to capture the moment of wonder, the splendor of the view and the sheer enjoyment of being alive.
Reflections of Emily
Emily is a resident of Summit County, Colorado. Raised in New York, moved to Texas for her career and raising her family with her husband, Tom they often vacationed as a family to ski in the winters and hike and bike the summers. Emily studied watercolor as a passionate pastime and works in water based mediums. She has taken classes at the Art League of Houston, Glassell School of Art and the Watercolor Art Society- Houston. These have been supplemented through workshops with accomplished artists; Alvaro Castagnet, Stephen Quiller, Charles Reid, John Salminen, Iain Stewart, Mary Whyte and Eric Wiegardt. She traveled extensively in Europe, the Far East and the United States and found it was a great way to balance her technology career by sketching and doing quick studies while flying or during an early morning walk. Recently retired from her career in technology, she is now free to expend more energy on her portfolio.
Her passions are art, travel and family. She is a member of the Summit County Arts Council and displays her work at the Arts Alive Gallery in Frisco. She is a past board member and an active member of Women of Watercolor. She has had exhibitions in Houston, Texas and in Breckenridge, Colorado and been a board and active member of the Watercolor Art Society-Houston. She teaches workshops at the Breckenridge Arts District, as well as private lessons.
